I agree that Apple needs to come up with some new designs for their hardware. I think the new nanos are a perfect combination of the nano (slim design, flash memory) and the mini (seemless casing, scratch proof) but the other products seem to be long in the tooth. The MacBook Pro/PowerBook has looked basically the same since it was debuted with a G4 processor (what was that, 2002?). The MacBook/iBook got a somewhat update look with the latest release, but kind of took a step backwards IMO.
However, with all of that said, 99% of us do not work for Apple and do not know how to design like they do. Where do you go with the current MBP? I would love to see an anodized black version but that still does not give us much of a difference at all. I am interested in seeing new products. I was dissapointed when they released the new MacPro's in the same encolusers. An extra optical slot and moving the power chord to the top of the tower does not count as a redesign.

I hope they hold true to the June date. If apple does not announce on their website is this an indication the date might slip?
So will this also be available at the apple store also?

I think the original poster was talking about the speaker volume, and I happen to agree - I think my speaker volume is slightly louder.
volume is definitely louder. it was actually one of the first things i noticed with this update because when i first got my macbook i was disappointed in the maximum volume. my heat sink was replaced also. it has been 24 hours and i've been on my computer a considerable amount...no problems so far.

Doesn't most of the internet use flash?
Not on mobile devices...
I would not feel so strongly about this if Adobe could write a stable, fast, less vulnerable version of flash for the Mac.
However as of today Adobe has shown they could give a rats ass about Apple and Flash is proof. It is buggy, it crashes a lot, even with hardware acceleration it is still a cpu hog and it seems every time I turn around another security exploit has been found.
Apple please keep Flash off of your iOS products and keep moving forward with html5.

[QUOTE=But seriously... $9.99 to $12.99 movie downloads when I can go over to any store (like, oh, say, Wal-Mart) and buy the real deal for a buck or two more? Just how in God's name is this a threat to them?! Wal-Mart's smartest move would be to drop their DVD prices by that buck or two, until they cost the SAME or LESS than online downloads.[/QUOTE]
And that is the point right now.
There is room for both models until downloads become fast enough and cheap enough to kill physical disc forever.
But we all know this is a long way off....in retail terms.
Plus with the new HD formats around the corner physical discs still have plenty of life left in them. No?
Wal-Mart is a bully corporation, like so many in the world. And they have a history of profiting on peoples misery. Whether they be suppliers, employees or competitors. I hope this move takes them down a peg or two.
They deserve all the ****** that gets thrown at them.

Quite greedy strategy. Adobe's prices are so expensive, that you would expect a longer support for your purchase than one year (especially in Dreamweaver and Flash, because they are used in an areas where technology goes forward all the time). And anyway, probably all mid-cycle updates will be so minor that most users won't buy them - Adobe doesn't get money, they just piss off customers with these expensive service pack updates.

As I've heard from those who've actually used Vista, Aero is the only reason to install it (thus far at least). Home Basic does not include Aero.
Assuming my Windows-using companions are correct, Home Basic thusly has nothing to offer. Hence, it is crap.

AH, see what you take for a reason not get it I take for just the very reason I want it... The ONLY thing I would Windows for are gaming and running one DB app that doesn't have an OSX version (yet - the next revision, which should be out before Vista, they claim will, woowoo).
So, for the most part I just want to boot into Windows to play a game or two. Which means that I want the leanest, least resource using Windows installation I can get. And the cheapest. As long as Vista Home Basic supports DX10 and all these "Vista exclusive" games that are being announced it will suffice for 75% of the Mac/Boot Camp crowd... and only cost $100. Probably snag it for $70 if you wait a bit and get an OEM copy from Newegg.
Vista+BootCamp = Wintendo.

And yet, no new iPhone will be present ... I predict a lot of attending hearts will be broken!
If people shelled out $1000+ for tickets to WWDC, you can bet that unless they are obscenely rich, they're there for the actual conference.

"switchers" ... plain and simple :D
Buyer satisfaction with other Apple products is clearly filtering down into Mac sales. This trend will only continue to strengthen.
I made the switch in 2009.
The race to the bottom in the PC world made it a fairly easy decision.
Also the fact that the web apps that are available now makes it a lot easier to make the software transition from PC to Mac. A lot of us had software that we didn't want to re-buy in Mac format so it perpetuated the cycle.
I know people in my limited sphere of influence are now switching to Macs because I can no longer provide any windows tech support :D

Why isn't the new DVD design for leopard not mentioned in the news article?
Well I like it :)
That's pretty hot.
I'm puzzled by the brushed metal iPod. I'm puzzled, specifically, that they would put images of products to be announced at the Keynote on the banner, because it seems like it'd rob the Stevenote of a bit of power.
Definitely enthusiastic, though.

The hardcore Apple fans boys are coming out of the woods today. Criticizing the developer, Facebook, everything but Apple's ridiculous App Store policies.
I just want to know why an established global business like Facebook, can't get permission to push through bug fixes without waiting two weeks for approval? It's freaking ridiculous, and there is an apparent pattern where an app is approved without problems and updates are delayed for weeks on end.
I've been put out by Apple's stupid approval policy on two apps I paid for. Waiting weeks at a time for crucial bug fixes to get pushed into the app store. Knowing the developer has fixed the issue but I'm stuck with an app I paid for that doesn't work properly.
I love Apple's products but they need to put in some work to make the App Store approval process better. Either more training and reviewers, or create some programs where established companies with a proven track record can get updates out there quickly.

Aas for the UI, that's the easiest thing in the world to implement at the last minute. it would be dumb from a marketing stand point to release that now 9 months or so prior to leopard's release. right now microsoft has caught up in many ways to the aqua look and feel (okay will catch up), while i don't think microsoft has the kind of time to implement GUI ideas in to vista, the general public are easily distracted. release the GUI now then tell them not for 9 months and they're going to get bored with it. when leopard ships the GUI will have a "been there, done that" feel about it. now announce it at MWSF '07 and tell everyone you're shipping in april, now you're on. you scuttle vista by showing off a UI that is different, and hopefully superior to vista's rip off of aqua and you have a better chance of maintaining interest.
I agree 100% with your assessment. I am certain that Apple will be modifying the Finder in the final release of Leopard (They have in every other major OS X release), and I fully expect to see that at a major demo at MWSF 07. I feel that's really where we're going to see Leopard, and hopefully by then, Vista will have gone GM, but who knows...

I think Motorola has another Revision (January / Febuary) + then they will have competition from IBM. I dont like Motorolas chances in that fight. We will probably get this sytem next:
Dual 1.5Ghz with Full DDRAM Support
167Mhz Bus
ATI 9000 Pro (Option 9700 or Geforce TI)
Firewire 2
Bluetooth
I think this spec is what we will get.

How bout the new Galaxy Tab 10.1? I don't own a tablet yet, and am leaning strongly in that direction. iPad had the market cornered for a while, but now there are real competitively spec'd and competitively priced Android tablets coming to market...
I think you'd better use one of the Galaxy Tab, preferably while right next to an iPad, before you freely recommend the Galaxy Tab as a replacement.
Or maybe read some of the reviews that pit the Galaxy Tab against the iPad and iPad 2.
The Galaxy Tab is not a replacement for the iPad, IMHO.
Just my opinion, of course.
Competitively "spec'd" and competitively priced does not equal an equivalent experience.

The new ones are ever so slightly thinner and have rounded edges like a mini. I put mine up against my partners 1st gen (in it's rather scratched case) so you could see.
I changed my mind on the packaging pic too. When the iPod's in there it's like a little glass coffin :)

I love it. Personally, I prefer the previous nano box, but if this is helping the environment then I'm happy!

Only go there when absolutely necessary, and shower after. BTW, I read somewhere of some people who every time they go to Walmart accidentally break/damage/spill something.
