I think calling your university presidents and asking them to show their support for these bills would also be a very good idea.
This bill will encourage pursuit of higher education in US by foreign students in a significant way.
Right now for all bills that Zoe proposed there are max 19 co sponser for this last bill. DID you check for STRIVE ACT 2007 which had 78 co-sponsers still could not make it to floor.
We need to call these lawmakers and educated them on these bills.
Chances are less but our investment is not that big. Few minutes in a day to call or write.

I guess my question stems from the comment above. Say if I do not get my GC and I wish to go back after 10 yrs is it possible to get my SS money back even if I am on H1 status?

IMHO "legally" exploiting the system is illegal. I don't blame the system because any system will have some flaws in them. I would rather blame people who take advantage of situations esp in scenarios like this. We all know how much time some people has waited here. We heard a story on Monday right? Have we already forgot that? IV's goals and objectives are clear on its home page. Here comes the OP, registers himself and comes up with his first post of Labor substitution and how to better himself. I don't see any thing wrong in pete getting fired up. This exact attitude is the result of 6500 members and not 25,000 or what ever.

If I was judging you I would have concluded that you support what the OP is doing and wouldn't asked you what your stand is. It depends on how you understand what I said. Those NASDAQ listed companies you were referring to might have substituted labors but I am sure they wouldn't charge X dollars for giving a better PD or deduct from payroll under some other miscellaneous stuff. I am aware of what you are talking and what OP is talking and they are not the same. I don't need to explicitly tell how desi shops work with
pre-approved labor, esp in the current situation.

Does it really make sense for a CP filer to get EAD? Interim benefits are for AOS filers and rightly so too as a CP filer is deemed to be outside the USA.

I received LUDs on my 485 and my wife's 485 and my H1 (Which was recently extended) and Already approved 140.
I have not used AC21 or any thing that would change any thing in my case.
So i guess LUDs may not be tied to AC21 use.
I received a soft lud on my H1B approved in Nov 2007. All other cases do not have any LUD. I guess it is just the system touching these records as routine maintainence.

Everyone,
We have received information that the Comprehensive Immigration Bill will be voted soon and the bill will be closed for amendments on Wednesday. That leaves only 2 working days to get something done
The text for the bill was only released in the evening on March 28th
As you have seen from the document released by IV that H2A workers will now be able to get citizenship in 11 years and self petition themselves. But legal skilled workers
1) will not be able to self petition
2) the wait to citizenship as it stands today is definitely more than 11 years
3) and all the left-over visas from EB1, EB2 and EB3 will now go to EB5 category
We really need to make sure that everyone is aware of the unfair treatment meted out to legal skilled immigrants and will be doing the following
1) We will be putting up webfaxes to send to senators asking for similar treatment to legal skilled immigrants too. They should be up by 5.00 PM EST. Make sure you login and send a webfax ASAP.
How can I send the fax?
a) Login,
b) click on the 'Home' link on the top of the page,
c) then click on the 'WebFax' link on the left hand side menu options,
d) enter your information,
e) Select webfax # 10 and #11 and your state
f) Send the fax
2) We need to contact each and every company like Microsoft/Intel (and any other to which IV members belong) that depends on skilled immigrants for their functioning. We need to make sure that their HR and CEO know about this.
a) If you are not comfortable with speaking about this to your HR/CEO (and we don't see any reason why), please send us the email id of the right person in HR and your CEO. We will not put your name anywhere but send a polite email to them on behalf of Immigration Voice. We will NOT spam them (just a single email) and will not name any person in the email. Remember that this is just to get their attention so that they can do the right thing.

It may be legal but should be discouraged to say the least.
Other than that, you will find a lot of hatred from this forum as what you are doing is very much inflaming since you are cutting in line -- legally so -- but still, its cutting in line. So dont be surprised by that.

also I read few months back that out of some 70K SWITCH ppl in usa, they filed GC for less than 100 employees. Do you think only 100 out of some 70K H1B wanted GC??? Another proof that they do not want their employees to move ahead.
Where did you get this stat? It is BS. My company itself processed more than 1000 GCs last two years. To manage the perm load, we had to hire extra paralegal staff apart from distributing PERM applications to more than 3 law firms.
And do you know that many folks who got GC from our company did not resign within 2 years of getting GC. They are highly motivated and achievers.
Amongst SWITCH there are some companies which do not sponsor GC as a policy. I am not denying that. But that doesnt mean that they are wrong.

In other words those who choose to go through emp based CP or family based Green Card which US embassy issues, go through Indian hospitals in Mumbai and Delhi. I think Gangaram in Mumbai has this facility. Ask your wife to get it done from there. Do not wait till the last moment, as someone pointed out, a slight delay in flight could............
