Later my wife made me realize that family life is most important as long as we are together, country of residence does not matter. When our son was born last month, I truly felt 'damn GC'.. funnily got approved in the same week:

I know before you start blaming me for this thread, as it is of no use, I would like to point out that most of you must be experiencing the same thing. I didn't care much for Visa bulletin until it became current for EB2 two weeks back. As the time progress, I am doing all sorts of things, like checking USCIS case status, and checking everything that can possibly give me some information. I know that it is waste of time, I know it is not good for health, I know that I will get GC when time comes, but still, my mind is tricking me to think about it. I checked all these forums until 2A.M last night. I am not having enough sleep. I am waiting for a opportunity to get rid of my desi employer. I am really getting frustrated (I am not saying that I have been waiting for GC approval desperately). I just want to share my frustration and what I have been going through. I know I am in a better position than most of other people whose priority date is not even current. I wish they never dangled a carrot in front of me. I am not sure if they disappoint me next month, but I am still keeping my hopes. Hopefully, I would get over this and have enough sleep from today.
I met a guy yesterday who applied for GC in 1998. EB3-I. Has not got his GC yet. You would expect him to feel worse than what you feel. But he was completely relaxed. Reason, he does not expect his GC anymore.
Be happy that your PD is going to be current. But remove any expectation. If you get the GC, enjoy and party. If you do not, you will get it soon sometime later. Once the expectation of something is out, you will suffer less.

My AP is expiring very soon. I do not have any travel plans to India in 6 months from now. Is it mandatory that I have to renew the AP before the old one expires?

Can't agree more. This is nothing but harassment. What has drivers license got to do with employment or immigration status ?

I feel like this is an example of how messed up this country is becoming. I used to work in Dubai and you need to show a copy of your visa page and employer letter for things like
1. Getting an internet connection . I kid you not: DSL became available thru Etisalat and I needed a copy of my visa page before I could get an internet connection,
2.Driver's License. This one takes the cake: I needed a letter from my employer stating that HE IS OK WITH ME APPLYING FOR A DRIVING LICENSE. Not an EVL but an EAL (Employer Authorizing Letter)
What does it tell you when you reach a situation where the laws and policies within individual US states start bearing resemblance to those used by medieval monarchies.

don't you think they will face problems in 140 if their education doesn't match that in labour... its not as easy as you told..

You are right, they will face problems in 140 and they do.But you know what, thats why we have lawyers & education eval agencies , if you pay them they can make any degree or exp look like , anything else.
I know a guy who had BSC & got a sub labour , he had got many RFEs in his 140 , I don't know what happend in the end , but what I feel is, some of them can still trick the system.

I don't think you should leave IV just because your 485 is approved and you are going to get the Green Card soon. IV has done lot for us and we should be supporting IV as long as we can.

It does not matter who will get credit for this. It would not happen without people taking action - IV members or those who took the USCIS to court (BTW, 90% of those did it without attorneys). Nothing happens if you do not do anything!

The best thing to ask for is a "time factor". If you have been in the US LEGALLY for a certain number of years (say 5 years), then you can apply for a Green Card (GC). That way people who have put some roots here over time will be able to become permanent residents. It also provides an incentive to immigrants to stay in status.
Why should there be a time factor from "GC" to "Citizenship" and none from visas like H1 to "GC"? It doesnt make sense! After all, I would think it should be harder to become a Citizen than to becoming a GC holder.
US should look up north to their Canadian neighbours for a good immigration system. A point system too would not be bad. It can determine how deep you have put down roots and then give you GC based on that.
Take for example, someone educated in the US, has been working on H1B for 4 years and with three kids that are American Citizens, and posses two properties in the US. It doesnt make any sense for that person not be able to becomoe a PR. Infact if he loses his job today, he's shown the door... that same day.

Sorry there was a typo in the application mailed in date it is 8/7/2007 and notice date is 9/26/2007.
as per the info u provided u'r...... mail dt is 8/17/07 & receipt dt is 9/26/07...... did u'r application reach cis after july visa bulletin..... if yes, then it appears that with u'r april-06 dt. the priority dt was not current when they received u'r app .... is that a possibility.....

Goodness!! These entries are awesome, I envy you guys. It was hard to decide, but it came down to eilsoe's and soul's. I ended up voting for Soul's because I liked the colors he used and the amount of detail put in. Eilsoe's piece is detailed as well, but the colors weren't too appealing. Great job everyone. =)

The real problem is due to cost cutting in fiancial industry they are asking me either to take a full time if I wish to continue or terminate my contact as they do not have budget for next Year, So i dont know if my I 140 can get approved by that time (NExt month), But anyways thanks for a lot for guidance.
Good luck to all those lookin forward for Green life after GREEEEEN card.
