I would say this is definitely good as 1.) They have acknowledged the issue AND 2.) acted upon it.
We will know the veracity of their actions as more people report of their NC getting cleared over the next few months.
I think (1) in the statement made by USCIS refers to "DHS Secretary Chertoff indicated that USCIS and the FBI are changing parts of the name check process, with the expected result that a large proportion of the backlog should be cleared within six months" source: AILA Infonet

I might be wrong, but I think the way it works is by supply and demand. If the supply of new visa numbers is much less than the demand, the dates might go back.

It seems every few weeks this discussion of VB predictions come up. Now neither Ron Gotcher nor Murthy nor Matthew Oh (or for that matter even God i think ;) ) can predict what the USCIS cut off dates will be. What is the point in debating whether Ron Gotcher is right or wrong? This is the United States, there is freedom of speech and anyone can say anything especially if it is just a prediction. We can assume a million things here, as to what the VB date should be, but will it be that? No one except the USCIS/DOS can actually confirm that.
Not even CIS, only DOS can make a meaningfule prediction. Last year, CIS had no idea that DOS would make all categories current in the July bulletin. If CIS had any control over that, it would have never happened.
If I remember correctly last year, some 14000 visas were given to India EB3. EB3 includes categories like Nurses, etc. We cannot expect them to login to and keep their status up to date. hence, numbers prove nothing.

There is a very good chance that something will happen soon if we rush. if you are smart enough to think that filing on july 1st will guarantee your acceptance, then you are wrong buddy. As per the other threads and discussions from lawers , immigration officers, and info pass applicants that we have seen so far, uscis can change and will probably change the rules of accepting the application if the demand and rush continues. Already we are seeeing 45 days backlog of receipt.
besides lawyers just have to instruct fedex to pickup and deliver it on july 30th, how difficult can it be ?? except they should have little more room to pile up the applications until july 30th :)
Don't spread rumors! You should know better that people are worried about mid-month retrogression rumor and you are icing that with your silly conclusions from people like you. Not only you are not helping anyone with this thread but you are creating unwanted headache for them. Please stop and wait for your approval, since you have already filed. Do not worry about all of us!
If something is going to happen, like you say, let it happen. There is nothing we can do to stop that and in worst case we won't be albe to file 485. We would still be very happy for you that you had filed and got your GC. Be happy but please stop this nonsense.

Atleast for me there is no hope for CIR, Peicemeal seems a best option, recently there was a WSJ report that President had agreed for piecemeal if CIR doesnt pass... but we need to be very very watchful...
after Healthcare experience there is little chance any big legislation will pass in this country we need people who care about country and would like to work with other end both sides seems either too liberal or conservative which is only good in winning elections...

No surprises for me at least. There will be only 816 new EB3 visas available for any country in October. This will move the dates at the most by a month or two and this will continue for ever until a new legislation is passed, that is why DC rally is all the more important and everyone should focus on that to bring in a change.
For folks wondering how I came to the 816 visa number
Total GC available = 140000
7% country limit = 9800
split for EB3 = 3266
spread for each qtr = 816
Good Luck to all and don't have high expectations because you will be disappointed when the bulletin comes out.
and 816 are not primary applicants.... there are spouse and kid(s)...

If you are planning on taking action against the attorney for fraud and mis representation, you may want to file a complaint in the bar of the state where your attorney practices. Bar complaints are taken very seriously and if you have proper documentation and are ready for the fight, he could even lose his license and/or penalized by the bar.

Initially I too got the same doubt that it could be a prank from my friend. But the name of the person who called me matches with the name of the person who visited my employer's office around 2 months back. After I got a call from ICE officer, I notified the same to my employer and explained about the call.
Really donno what to do.... Even though the ICE officer took prior appointment for visiting me, should I still contact attorney?
Don't let him come to your house w/o your attorney being present.

We might be looking at it the wrong way. The question is whether outsourcing is bad. Maybe thats not what the question should be. My view is that just like competition, outsourcing and globalization are facts of life. You can fight it, but it will not get you anywhere.
If you think of globalization and realize that the whole world is a marketplace then wont the whole world be a competition for your job?
When I think of outsourcing, I think of just another competition for your job. In some cases though when the entire department is being outsourced you are part of the herd. The same can be said for entire departments laid off.
